THE UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE

 1951년 뉴사우스웨일스 공과대학의 관할 아래 설립된 뉴캐슬 유니버시티칼리지(Newcastle University College)에서 출발했다. 뉴사우스웨일스 공과대학은 뉴사우스웨일스 대학(University of New South Wales)의 전신이다. 뉴캐슬 유니버시티칼리지는 설립 당시 학생 수가 5명에 불과했고,교육 분야는 공학, 수학, 과학에 한정되었다.
1965년 뉴사우스웨일스 대학에서 독립해 뉴캐슬 대학교가 설립되었다. 2003년 오스트레일리아의 5개 대학과 함께 IRUA(Innovative Research Universities Australia)를 창설했다. IRUA는 오스트레일리아에서 혁신적인 연구를 선도하는 대학 그룹으로 이후 IRU로 이름을 변경했다. 2007년 싱가포르에 새로 캠퍼스를 열었다.
뉴캐슬 대학교는 연구 중심의 공립대학으로 오스트레일리아 상위 10~15개 대학에 포함된다. 
2011년 현재 7,800여 명의 외국인 학생을 포함하여 3만 5,400명 이상의 학생들이 재학하고 있다. 대학 재학생 수는 2만 2,700명을 넘고, 대학원 재학생 수는 약 6,300명이다. 5개의 캠퍼스를 가지고 있다. 제1캠퍼스는 뉴캐슬의 교외지역인 캘러헌에 있다. 그리고 우림바, 포트매쿼리, 시드니 업무중심지구(CBO), 싱가포르에 캠퍼스가 있다.

전기 공학자들은 발전, 신호 처리, 그리고 아날로그와 디지털 전기 공학의 과학 분야에서 전문 기술을 펼치고자 하는 사람들입니다. 전기 공학과는 다양한 발전 국가와의 자연스러운 관계 유지와 새로운 기술을 발전시키고자 하는 나라들과의 협상 관계에 대한 문제를 다루기 때문에 가장 중요하고 까다로운 분야라고 말할 수 있습니다.
본 학과는 이러한 현대 사상에 맞춰 다양한 전기 공학과에 있어 필요한 요소들을 갖추며 새로운 경제 상황의 어려움을 해결할 수 있는 준비 과정에 필요한 실제 경험과 이론 지식을  학생들에게 제공하며,프로그램 과정 중 12주의 현장 실습을 하여야 합니다. 또한, 상위권 학생들은 학생 재량에 따라 Honours (고급 과정)을 수료할 수도 있습니다.

The University of Newcastle, Australia와 PSB Academy의 The Bachelor of Engineering 프로그램들은 Engineers Australia (EA)의 정식 인가를 받은 과정입니다.
