1984년 아일랜드의 Brother Joseph에 의해 설립하여, 단 17명의 학생으로 시작, 디자인, 순수미술, 미디어아트, 댄스, 뮤직, 씨어터, 아트 매니지먼트 등의 다양한 분야에서 창의적이고 현장 중심의 프로페셔널한 졸업생들을 양성하여 왔으며 졸업생의 약 85% 정도가 취업한다.

전체 학생은 약 2,300명이며 이 중 30%는 30개국 이상의 외국 학생들이며,  LASALLE Clollege of the Arts는 실기 중심의 디자인, 행위예술,미술,예술경영 과 미디어예술 분야의 학사와 석사

학위까지 제공하는 아시아 태평양 지역에서 선두를 지향하는 예술대학교이다.

또한, 싱가폴 교육부로부터 재정을 지원 받는 비영리 사립 교육기관으로 싱가폴을 세계적인 예술도시와 아이아 태평양 지역의 문화 중심도시로 변화시키는데 중요한 역할을 하고 있는 교육기관이다.
